Environment Canada has issued several tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings for areas of western and central Saskatchewan.

On Thursday evening, meteorologists began tracking a series of severe thunderstorms that could spawn tornadoes 25 kilometers northeast of Whitegull Lake and as far south as Albertville.

A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when a thunderstorm produces severe hail and can bring strong winds and torrential downpours.

At 8:00 PM, a tornado warning was issued for the Lakelands area, which includes Lake Emma and Anglin, and the Buckland RM, which includes Wahpeton Reso. Spruce Home, Garden River RM including Meath Park and Albertville, and Paddockwood RM including Candle Lake and Paddockwood.

If a tornado develops, evacuate immediately, according to Environment Canada. Move indoors and as far away as possible from outside areas such as basements, indoor closets, and bathrooms. If caught outdoors with no shelter, lie down in a ditch or low ground and cover your head with your arms.
