Toronto police identify man killed in four Parkdale shootings

Toronto police have identified a man who was shot dead during four shootings at a Parkdale skyscraper earlier this week.

The incident occurred just after 5:30 pm on Tuesday at the Toronto Community Housing Corporation building at 245 Dunn Avenue, just south of Queen Street West.

Officers found a man shot in a third-floor unit, police said. He has been identified as Abel Gime, his 23-year-old from Toronto. Guimet became the 63rd murder victim in Toronto this year.

Investigators said a second 19-year-old man was found in the lobby of the 19-story building. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries, police said.

A third victim, a 22-year-old man, had non-life-threatening injuries and made his way to the hospital for treatment.

A fourth victim, a 44-year-old woman, fled the building and took refuge in a nearby TTC vehicle. Toronto police said she was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Toronto police are looking for at least two suspects. So far, police have released only a limited description.

One person was reportedly detained by police at the scene, but police did not say if they were involved in the incident or if they were suspects in the shooting.
