Don Anthony St. Clair, ‘The Amazing Race’ season 6 contestant dies at 87

Donald Anthony St. Clair, one half of the adorable grandparent duo from Season 6 of The Amazing Race, has passed away. he was 87 years old.

According to his obituary, Don died on August 31 at Angels Camp, an hour and a half southeast of Sacramento, California. TMZwhich first broke the news on Saturday, Don’s son, Greg, told the outlet that Don collapsed and died at his home. TMZ The family believed he had some sort of heart problem. The death came as a shock to the family, given that Don had recently seen a doctor and was reportedly told the results were excellent.

Don and his wife, Mary Jean, starred in Season 6 of the CBS hit show, finishing in eighth place. Their journey ended after being eliminated in Germany.

Don and Mary are among the oldest to join the long-running reality TV series. Meredith and Gretchen in Season 7 are the oldest team alongside Don and Mary, with both teams averaging his 67.5 years at the time of filming.

When asked if they were considered too old to participate in the grueling globe-trotting competition series when they signed up for “The Amazing Race,” Mary responded, “I’ll try it.” “We’re in the best shape we’ve been in 30 years. Other teams should worry about keeping up with us.”

Known as “The Kahuna” by his friends, Don’s hobbies included skiing, fly fishing, playing the piano, horseback riding and traveling. He is a big wine lover and has won the International Winemaker of the Year Award.

Don is survived by a wife, six children, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
