Dodgers’ Buehler to miss season after elbow surgery

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler will undergo season-ending surgery for an elbow injury that has kept him from pitching for the past two months.

The Dodgers announced Monday that Buehler’s surgery is scheduled for Aug. 23 before the start of the four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

A two-time All-Star, Buehler has appeared in 12 games this season, going 6-3 with a 4.02 ERA. He last pitched on June 10 and left that game after four innings when his elbow started to bother him.

The Dodgers have since announced that Buehler will not pitch for six to eight weeks due to a flexor strain.

Despite Buehler’s absence, Los Angeles entered Monday with a 79-34 best record in the majors.
