Dodgers Add Clayton Kershaw To Injured List Due To Back Pain

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers placed lefty Clayton Kershaw on the disabled list on Friday.

It marks the 34-year-old Kershaw’s second appearance on the injured list this season. He had previously been sidelined with inflammation in his pelvic joint.

The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner winced and pointed at the Dodgers’ dugout as he warmed up in the fifth before Thursday’s 5-3 victory over San Francisco. He then left the field with his trainer.

A nine-time All-Star, Kershaw is 7-3 with a 2.64 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 85 1/3 innings.

Also on Friday, the Dodgers hired utility man Chris Taylor, who has been sidelined for a month with a broken left leg. 238 with 6 homers and 27 RBIs in his 74 games.

The Dodgers also recalled right-hander Reyes Moronta and optional outfielder James Outman.

Moronta went 0-0 with 4.67 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings. Outman had 6-of-13 RBIs in his four games with the Dodgers, in which he had one home run and he had three RBIs.
