The more you spin, the more money you raise: Women in Kelowna raised over $16,000 for Easter seals

Kelowna residents raised over $16,000 on their bikes for the Easter seal.

On Tuesday, November 22nd, Michelle Weber attended all 5 Spin classes at her favorite Spin Studios, raising $16,850, as part of the 3rd annual Spin Asson fundraiser.

“I came up with this idea during the 2020 pandemic,” said Webber. “When I couldn’t celebrate my birthday with you, I decided to turn it into something good and raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart.”

Webber decided to raise money for Easter Shields because her sister has a disability, so she knew firsthand the impact their camps and services had on people and families.

“Every year my sister looked forward to the week-long trip to the Easter seals’ summer camp,” Webber said. “This was a place and time for her to grow exponentially in areas such as independence, self-confidence and social intelligence. She had a great time and loved every moment of her time away.”

Webber rode the PACE Spin Studio and raised money by participating in the fundraiser herself, before the event was bigger this year as her friends and people from the community joined the ride.

“More than 25,000 people use Easter Seal programs and services each year, and we rely on community fundraising and donations to keep us going,” said Webber.
