Director of World Marathon Challenge Completes Cross-America Carrying Friend’s Ashes

Matthews died suddenly a year ago. Donavan dedicated the trip to Matthews and delivered the ashes to Matthews’ mother at the end of the trip.

Running very long distances is nothing new for Donavan. He completed his first US crossing in 2015, crossed Europe from Istanbul to the coast near Rotterdam in 2016, and crossed South America in early 2017.

Donovan revealed on Instagram that he faced some setbacks. He hopes to finish the TransUSA run at the Pier in Santa Monica later this month. “

Originally from Galway, Ireland, Donovan organizes the World Marathon Challenge every year. This includes a group of runners from different countries in his seven days he completes seven marathons on seven continents. WMC has captivated ultrarunning legends Mike Wardian, He recently completed the crossing of the United States from West to East.

Donavan did not follow a strictly linear route and had no precise deadlines. He planned the trip based on where he wanted to run.
