Danny DeVito jokes he should be the live-action version of Hercules: ‘If they didn’t put me in there, there would be no hair on their A**’

Danny DeVito is campaigning for a role in Disney’s upcoming live-action film.

In the latest segment of Wired’s “Most Searched Questions on the Web” interview, the actor was asked about whether he would star in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1997 animated film Hercules.

“I’m the live-action Hercules!” DeVito joked, bending his arm. “If they don’t let me in, they have no hair on their heads..”

The actor voiced the iconic role of the satyr Philoctetes in the original animated film.

After the success of “Aladdin” in 2019, Disney continues its trend of adapting animated features into live-action films for new audiences with “Hercules.”

Guy Ritchie, who directed “Aladdin,” will direct the film, while Anthony and Joe Russo will produce the film through AGBO’s banner.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Wheels screenwriter Dave Callaham wrote the first draft of the script.

The 1997 animated film featured Tate Donovan in the role of the famous hero and James Woods as Hades.

Another high-profile star who has campaigned for a role in the new film is Jennifer Hudson. In an interview for ‘The Web’s Most Searched Questions’, she said that her ‘Dream Girl’ co-stars have all been in Disney films.

“I was Calliope, head muse on a Disney cruise ship, so that means I’m ready to play my part,” she added.
