The Santa Claus Parade takes over the streets of downtown Toronto on Sunday

The 118th original Santa Claus Parade returns to the streets of downtown Toronto today.

After being broadcast-only for the past two years, the parade begins at 12:30 PM at Christie Pits Park. Continue east on Bloor Street, south on University Avenue, and east to St. Lawrence Market.

Motorists should note that roads along the parade route will be closed several hours before the parade starts, and parked vehicles will be towed to nearby streets free of charge to their owners starting at 6am on Sundays .All roads are expected to reopen by 6pm

Toronto police are urging spectators attending the parade to use public transportation. TTC adds additional trains to Line 1 and his Line 2 to accommodate revelers.

Featuring floats, bands, marchers, celebrity clowns and, of course, performances by Mrs. Claus and Jolly Old St. Nick, as well as John Legend and Preston Pablo, this year’s event is a Bell Media personality. Hosted by Melissa Guerro. Kelsey McEwen and Tyrone Edwards.

It operates for about 2.5 hours and is held rain or shine.

The Holly Jolly Fun Run will also take place this morning on the same route just before the parade. The run is set to finish at Maple Leaf Square.

If you can’t attend the parade in person, all festivities will be streamed live on CP24.com, the CP24 app, and the CP24 YouTube page.

The 118th Original Santa Claus Parade, which began in Toronto in 1905, is Canada’s longest-running Santa Claus parade and will also air on CTV’s Primetime Special on December 3 at 7:00 PM ET/PT will be
