“New ‘Bridget Jones’ Film to Feature Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant in Starring Roles”

Renée Zellweger is poised to reprise her iconic role as Bridget Jones in the eagerly awaited fourth installment of the beloved film series.

The acclaimed two-time Oscar winner is set to lead the cast of “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” as announced in a recent press release. This latest cinematic venture draws inspiration from Helen Fielding’s bestselling novel of 2014, sharing the same title.

Joining Zellweger in this exciting return to the franchise is Hugh Grant, known for his portrayal of Daniel Cleaver in the original “Bridget Jones’s Diary” (2001) and its sequel “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” (2004). Grant’s absence in the third film, “Bridget Jones’s Baby” (2016), left fans eagerly anticipating his return to the series.

Emma Thompson, who graced the screen as Dr. Rawlings in the third film and contributed to its screenplay, will also make a comeback to the franchise. Additionally, new faces to the Bridget Jones universe include Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall, known for his role in “White Lotus.”

Zellweger’s performance in the original “Bridget Jones’s Diary” earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in 2002. She later went on to secure Oscar wins for Best Supporting Actress in “Cold Mountain” (2004) and for Best Actress in “Judy” (2020).

The “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” storyline picks up 14 years after Bridget’s romance with Mark Darcy, portrayed by Colin Firth, as depicted in the films. The narrative promises to delve into Bridget’s continued adventures and misadventures in love, life, and career.

Michael Morris, known for his work on “To Leslie,” is set to direct the latest installment, with Helen Fielding serving as an executive producer, ensuring the continuation of the beloved franchise’s legacy.

Fans can mark their calendars for February 14, 2025, when “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” will debut in theaters internationally and on Peacock in the United States, promising a Valentine’s Day treat for audiences worldwide.
