My name is Dr. Chris Boshan. I am not a candidate for any of the above Direct Democrats in the Carlton constituency. When it comes to politics, I’m not a common name. Not so with my party. So I am grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself.

When I have traveled through our wonderful areas, the main emotions I hear are indifference and liberation to our democratic system. I listen to it every day. “All parties are the same. It doesn’t matter who you vote for.”; “Why do you bother to vote? Nothing changes.” Of course, turnout is increasing for more and more people, especially. It continues to plummet as young Ontarions get their attention.

All of the above Direct Democrats are based on the principle that Ontario citizens should be in power. Elected civil servants must have the independence to act in the best interests of their members, not in the best interests of the party. On an ongoing basis, Ontario people need to make decisions on important issues through the referendum process. If elected civil servants do not keep their promises or are ineffective, they should be removed from power. Finally, Ontario should be led by a responsible government working on true election reform.

When you visit the party’s website, you don’t see much detailed information about the platform. This is because we believe in doing politics differently. As an MPP elected to Carlton, my personal views, opinions, priorities, or the views of my party leaders are simply not important. My only job is to be the voice of the Carlton people in Queen’s Park. This is how democracy works.

My commitment to Carlton’s residents is to spend the first 100 days in the office for formal and informal consultations. I attend meetings and visit events at Bingo Hall, church basement, and pancake breakfast. Create a representative panel of 100 locals to advise on policy making and strategic directions.

Why am I the right person for this job? Because I’m not part of the current political system. I’m a private sector executive and scientist today, but I’m a proud kid of a merchant dad and a housewife who grew up in the country. We raised cows, raised our own vegetables, and lived a modest but honest life. I believe in diligence and true my leadership. That’s what the people of Carleton deserve. Don’t give me a chance to anyone in the direct Democratic Party above.
