Chiwetel Ejiofor is open in a frank new interview about the loss of his father Arinze in a car accident at the age of 11.

The actor said: “Grief lives forever in many ways. Losing a young parent can have a huge impact on your outlook on life.

“At an early age, you realize the value of some things and the preciousness of life itself. That’s what most people get later. The particular fears and neuroses you definitely have. Justification. Some are done, but you lose a lot of ideas about knowledge.

“I don’t know if it’s because of my father’s death, but there is a gap in the knowledge that I have to acquire myself while traveling my life.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ejiofor talks about the success of the 2013 movie “12 Years A Slave” and how he believes it led to the green light of a particular movie.
