Oscar Peterson synthesizer goes up for sale at auction fundraiser

Instruments and special memorabilia from renowned Canadian musicians Oscar Peterson, Geddy Lee, The Tragically Hip and more will be auctioned as part of an online fundraiser.

Toronto-based organization Make Music Matter kicked off its Healing in Harmony Holiday Auction on Thursday, which runs through December 4, when bidding closes at 8 p.m.

A synthesizer (76-key Ensoniq ZR-76) owned by Montreal jazz legend Oscar Peterson and donated by his wife Kelly Peterson, signed by Geddy Lee of Toronto rock band Rush Signature Fender Jazz Bass, framed print of The Tragically Hip’s “Fully Completely” album artwork signed by surviving members of the band.

Also auctioned are autographed instruments from the bands Sum 41 and Billy Talent, autographed CDs and vinyl records, and other merchandise.

All proceeds from the auction will help Make Music Matter expand its music therapy program, Healing in Harmony.

David Bottrill, Grammy-winning producer and Chairman of the Board of Make Music Matter, said in a news release:

“We are thrilled to have their support as we scale up our work with indigenous communities to address the intergenerational trauma experienced by them.”
