First Tellurium Begins Soil Sampling Program At Colorado’s Klondike Project, The Canadian Business Journal

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada, October 13, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — First Tellurium Corp. (CSE: FTELOTC FSTTFMore) (the “Company” or “First Tellurium”) reports that it has begun a soil sampling program at the Klondike Tellurium Gold Project in Suguash County in south-central Colorado. This work is intended to provide further guidance for the subsequent diamond drilling program announced on 17 August 2022.

This sampling follows previous work carried out by First Solar Inc. when this land was being surveyed to supply tellurium for First Solar’s cadmium telluride solar panels.

Due to the property’s superior tellurium grade, Klondike was considered one of the top tellurium prospects in the First Solar world. First Solar planned to use Klondike as the primary tellurium source for manufacturing its cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar panels.

Klondike project manager John Keller said, “This work will not only provide better information on borehole placement, but will also provide more information about lithology and structure from rock outcrops encountered during soil sampling. We can also collect detailed geological data.”

Keller said his team uses First Solar data from geophysics, rock samples and geology to optimize the grid layout.

The Colorado Geological Survey (CGS), in partnership with the Colorado School of Mines, reported on the Klondike Exploration for First Solar in the 2015 Colorado Mineral and Energy Industry Activities 2014-2015 publication. Specifically, CGS states:

“Surface sampling by First Solar in 2006 found very high tellurium grades up to 3.3% (33,000 ppm) and locally high grades of gold. It was the best discovery of a national exploration program.”

The Klondike is located 10 miles (16 km) from the small town of Saguache and is easily accessible via a paved gravel road. Most exploration work can be performed year-round.

President and CEO Tyrone Docherty said: “Combining the launch of our Klondike his program with his exploration of copper porphyry in Deerhorn, Columbia, British his two exciting campaigns on green metals are underway.”
