Canada’s Vallee wins silver medal at FINA World Championships on a 3-meter springboard

Canada’s Mia Valley won a medal at the FINA World Championships on Saturday.

A 21-year-old woman from Beaconsfield, Queensland, put silver on her 3-meter stepping stone to win her second podium and her third podium in the country at a diving event.

Vallee finished with 329.00 points to win her second career medal in the world after winning a bronze medal on Wednesday’s 1-meter springboard.

She sat in 5th place after 3 dives on Saturday, but on her 4th effort she moved up to 3rd place before climbing to another location on her last attempt.

China’s Yiwen Chen won the gold medal with 366.90 points, and country woman Yani Chang came in third with 325.85.

Vallee entered the world with five career medals (one gold, one silver and three bronze) at the Grand Prix circuit.

Lyran Wiens of Pike Lake, Saskatchewan and Nathan Zonbol Murray of Montreal won the bronze medal at the Men’s 10-meter Synchronized Event on Tuesday, winning Canada’s first diving medal in these worlds.

Canada has now won 14 medals (3 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze) after setting a national record of 11 in swimming last week.

The event in Hungary concludes Sunday.
