Canada Donates $1 Million to International Criminal Court Sex Crime Investigation Jolie – National

Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie has announced an additional $1 million payment to the International Criminal Court.

The funds are intended to support court investigations into sexual and gender-based violence everywhere as Canada supports agencies investigating possible Russian war crimes in Ukraine. .

Jolie was in Poland on Thursday at a summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, one of the last forums where Russia and the West have diplomatic ties.

The 57-member group, best known for monitoring elections, has also helped stabilize countries after conflicts from Bosnia to Tajikistan.

Poland has banned Russia from participating in the summit, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a virtual press conference that sidelining Moscow would not lead to peace in Ukraine.

Jolie replied that Russia had refused to talk and had “destroyed trust” between nations.
