Canada beats Germany in doubles to reach Davis Cup semifinals

Doubles Denis Shapovalov and Basek Pospisil sent Canada to the semi-finals of the Davis Cup final in Spain, giving Germany a decisive victory.

Shapovalov and Pospisil rallied to win the doubles match by defeating Tim Puetz and Kevin Klavietz 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Earlier, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Shapovalov 6-3 4-6 7-6 before Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Oscar Otte 7-6 (1) 6-4. 2) and Jan Leonard staff split the singles match.

Canada will face Italy in Saturday’s semi-final.

Croatia and Australia will face off in another semi-final, with the winner facing off on the final Sunday.
