No comeback this time: The Canadiens fell behind for the second straight game Tuesday night against the Buffaloes at the Bell Center, but this time the comeback kids couldn’t bounce back and lost 7-2 to the Sabers. The Canadiens trailed him 3-0 with just 2:13 into the first period against the Sabers. After the end of the second period, the lead was shortened to 4-2 and allowed three goals in the third period. In Saturday’s previous game at the Bell Center, the Canadiens fell behind the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-0.

Goal Corfield: Cole Caulfield continues to score goals. He has scored a team-leading 12 goals against the Sabers this season, one more than captain Nick Suzuki. Caulfield has scored three goals in his last two games and he is on pace to score 52 goals this season. Shawn Monaghan scored another goal for the Canadiens against the Sabers, his fourth of the season. The Canadiens went 0-for-6 on a power play against Buffalo, and the Sabers went 2-for-4 on man-advantage. The Canadiens rank 28th in the NHL with his 16.1% success rate on powers and 13th in his 79.4% penalty killing success rate.

Blue Jacket is resting. It’s the second game in a row on the Canadiens’ schedule, but the Blue Jackets haven’t played since beating the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Sunday. The Blue Jackets remain bottom of the eight-team Metropolitan Division, though he has gone 4-1-1 in his last six games. Jonny Gaudreau is leading Columbus with a 7-11-18 aggregate after leaving the Calgary Flames as a free agent and signing a seven-year, US$68.25 million contract with the Blue Jackets in July as a free agent. The annual salary cap on the contract is his $9.75 million. Gaudreau has been off the scoresheet only six times this season and has scored points in four straight games. Boone Jenner ranks his second in the Blue His Jackets with a total of 8-6-14, followed by Yegor his Chinahoff with 3-7-10.

Weird Schedule: The Canadiens will face the Blue Jackets in Columbus for the second time in a week after last Thursday’s 6-4 loss at Nationwide Arena.
