ONTARIO CUPE STRIKE 2022: ARE SCHOOLS OPEN TUESDAY?

Ontario’s education workers’ strike is set to end on Tuesday following Prime Minister Doug Ford’s promise to withdraw Bill 28.

Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce passed a “Keep Students in Classes Law” late Thursday afternoon, making it illegal for education workers to go on strike. On Monday, the Ford government confirmed it would rescind Bill 28 to ensure students return to classes.

Laura Walton, president of the Trade Union Council of the Ontario Board of Education of the Canadian Civil Servants Union (CUPE), said, “The prime minister has introduced and confirmed that he will support a bill that would completely repeal Bill 28.” rice field. Press conference Monday afternoon.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has sent a letter to parents, guardians and students to confirm that schools will resume in-person learning for students on Tuesday.

If there are more updates, TDSB says they will share them as soon as possible.

Toronto Catholic District Board of Education

Students of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) are returning to school for classes tomorrow.

The school board encourages parents to contact their child’s school for information about school activities and events that have been postponed or rescheduled due to large-scale strikes.

York Area School District School Board

All York Area District School Board (YRDSB) schools will reopen for in-person learning on Tuesday.

YRDSB confirms that all indigenous and international language classes will resume. Student transportation and childcare services will also be operated.
