British Columbia police officer charged with two assaults related to 2020 arrest

Victoria-BC Prosecutor’s Office has approved two charges against Abbotsford police officers in connection with their arrest in Abbotsford more than two years ago.

The service says its Const in a news release. Sean Negel was charged with weapons assault and assault that caused physical harm.

The service states that it was charged in connection with the arrest of the suspect in West Vancouver on February 26, 2020.

No other details are provided as Negel’s proceedings are proceeding in court.

The accusation states that it was approved by “an experienced crown counsel who has no previous or current relationship with an officer.”

Negel’s first appearance is scheduled for August 3 in the North Vancouver District Court.
