Booster Juice moves to historic location on Princes Street

Booster Juice held a grand opening this month to mark the opening of its third store in Kingston. This year he had a grand opening in early November and to celebrate he had a “customer appreciation” sale throughout the month. The Canadian Juice and Smoothie Bar is located on his first floor in his three-story limestone building at 293 Princes Street, built in 1863.

“We just opened our new store at 293 Princes Street, so drive in! Stop by and celebrate the opening of Paresh’s third store, and celebrate the opening of their second. We are thrilled to welcome and look forward to meeting our local community,” Booster Juice wrote on social media on Nov. 5.^th.

The store is in the final stages of opening as it has a signature approved by the City Council and its Heritage Committee.

Historic buildings are mixed-use and designated under Part 4 of the Act. Ontario Heritage Law. There were some delays in the approval process and the application was submitted on October 13th.^th.

This proposal seeks approval to install an internally illuminated wall sign above the front door and below the second floor.

A meeting was held on November 16 to discuss the application and related policies and materials. Ontario Heritage Law Approved. Heritage Kingston provided the council with recommendations on the application, including the following conditions for approval: obtaining building/marking permits, entry permits, and temporary access permits as required.

In addition, it was recommended that masonry work be in accordance with the City’s policy on restoration of masonry in heritage buildings and that deviations from submitted plans be referred to the Director of Heritage Services for review and approval.

The application is filled with various reviews. The engineering department reviewed the proposal and had no objections, but Heritage Kingston Chairman Peter Gower said: [Street]I propose to the applicant that the heritage attributes of this part of the city are not at all appropriate.

Peter Gower considered making the signs smaller, printing them on see-through plastic, and placing them in windows instead of being lit.

“Slightly smaller size and controls to ensure adequate light intensity would be desirable,” says vice chair Don Taylor.

You have 90 days for the Council to make a decision on your application, which expires on January 11, 2023.

A request for comment was made by Booster Juice, but the publication did not respond.
