Body found near Richmond Marina is missing, 20-year-old Indigenous woman: VPD

Police have confirmed that a body found in Richmond in May belongs to Tatiana Harrison, a 20-year-old Indigenous woman.

A Vancouver Police Department release on Saturday (August 6) said, “The previously unidentified body found in Richmond was a 20-year-old man who was reported missing from Vancouver’s downtown East Side earlier this spring. Identified as Tatiana Harrison, an Indigenous woman.”

Harrison’s body was found on May 2, the day before she was reported missing.

“This is heartbreaking news for all who knew and loved Tatiana, and for the many strangers who flocked to look for her when she disappeared,” said Konst.

“While we are now able to provide some answers, many questions remain and we will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Tatiana’s disappearance.”

It was July 14th when the Richmond RCMP released a sketch of the woman who was found dead on May 2nd near the marina on Block 6900 of Gravel Road.

The Richmond RCMP said it was found in “an old 40-foot yacht that was in the marina’s dry dock,” adding that “her death is not considered suspicious at this time.”

More coming.
