Blue Jays recall right-hander Mitch White before debut with Twins

The Toronto Blue Jays have officially recalled right-hander Mitch White from Triple-A Buffalo, and he’ll be in Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

Trent Thornton was optionally offered to Buffalo in a corresponding move.

White will make his Blue Jays debut, as pitching coach Pete Walker confirmed Friday.

The 27-year-old was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Los Angeles Dodgers along with Alex de Jesus in exchange for Nick Flasso and Moises Brito.

White is 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.250 WHIP in 56 innings this season.

The Blue Jays needed a Saturday starter after Ross Stripling was placed on the 15-day injured reserve list earlier this week with a glute/hip strain.

White hasn’t pitched since 6 innings, 9 hits, and 2 runs against the Washington Nationals on July 26.
