Blue Jays mourn the death of the coach’s daughter

Toronto-First-based coach Mark Badzinski is on leave from the Toronto Blue Jays after his daughter’s death.

The team announced the death of Julia Budinsky on Sunday morning.

Mark Budzinski left the Blue Jays dougout early in the second game of the day and night doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.

After losing to Tampa 11-5, the Blue Jays issued a statement stating that there would be no post-match media availability.

The team also closed the clubhouse to reporters as the coaching staff supported Budinsky when he tackled the “personal issue”.
