Minneapolis Americana icons Jayhawks, folk duo The Milk Carton Kids, indie veteran Damian Jurad and Polaris award winner Pierre Quinders will perform block heaters at the Calgary Folk Music Festival in February.

The line-up, announced earlier this week, includes acclaimed Somali-Canadian singer-songwriter Cold Specs, Cincinnati indie rockers Heartless Bastards, singer-songwriter Hawksley Workman, indie folk artist Hayden, Anishinabeg artist OMBIIGIZI, experimental California singer-songwriter Jeska Hoop, New York rock-pop artist Margaret Glaspie and Irish bard Mick Flannery.

Block Heater runs February 9-12 at various venues in Downtown and Inglewood, including the Palace Theatre, Ironwood, Jack Singer Concert Hall, Central United Church, Festival Hall and Olympic Plaza.
The festival will host Chinook for a show at Olympic Plaza featuring local hip-hop artist Cynthia, Calgary funk and soul seven-piece band Dacha & The Vudeuz, and Calgary R&B and hip-hop duo ZENON+. Team up with Blast.

The festival will partner with the Esker Foundation on February 9th to celebrate the opening of Ragnar Kjartansson’s sound and video installation, The Visitor. Hip-hop act his CELL7 and Winnipeg-born folk-rocker Lindy Vopunford have maintained their Icelandic ties with performances at Ironwood and Festival Hall, respectively.

Toronto’s Folkie, Abigail Rappel, Prince Cree artist Isanaby, folk revivalist The Deep Dark Woods, roots-rocker Elliott Broad, Cameroon-born Montreal singer Clerel, Edmonton indie folk The team of rocker Sister Ray, BC Pop singer-songwriter Luca Fogare, Toronto soul-pop singer Steve Tetts, DJ Kidd Koala and dance/electronic artist Lealani will also perform, along with local act Benjamin. Longman, rapper K-Riz, Calgary rocker Vailhalen and bluegrass old country singer Amy Nelson will also perform.
