Bitcoin is the Ultimate Freedom: Nigel Farage – Bitcoin Magazine
At a panel at Bitcoin Amsterdam on Thursday, former MEP Nigel Farage said any new idea would automatically face established opposition.
That discussion served the entire conversation as an introduction to Farage’s point. He drew parallels between Bitcoin and his experience pushing the then-unpopular idea of Brexit, the UK’s exit from the European Union.
“I led a political rebellion and assumed the regime,” Farage said. It’s an economic riot that’s being induced and led.”
The topic was sparked by the first question of fellow panelist and “What Did Bitcoin Do?” podcast host Peter McCormack. “What are you doing at the Bitcoin conference?”
Farage concluded that it was a “perfect and natural place” due to his past experience and connection to the Bitcoin movement today.
The politician expanded his case by detailing his views on the establishment and why it is difficult to challenge them. The people who are part of the establishment and who maintain it “own and set the status quo. plug.”
“And I think Bitcoin is seeing it.”
The parallels between Farage’s past leading the Brexit movement and the current reality of burgeoning technology continued to grow when he began talking about freedom and liberty. Commenting on the relationship between the EU Commission and its lawmakers, Farage argued that the fact that it was the bureaucrats who steered the ship did not paint a good picture of the EU in his mind.
“I believe in freedom. I believe in freedom. I believe a nation-state is the best way to do that at the moment,” Farage said. “I campaigned for Brexit and am absolutely proud to have achieved it and believe it is the first brick out of the globalist EU world.”
Similarly, Farage believes Bitcoin will give individuals control over their finances and, ultimately, their lives.
“Government stays away [Bitcoin]’ he reasoned. “They don’t tell me what I can and can’t do with Bitcoin. In that sense, it’s the ultimate freedom, the ultimate freedom.”
Another reason Farage believes in Bitcoin is that “the technology has been proven to work and is getting better.”
Farage argues that for Bitcoin to reach its full potential, citizens need to ensure lawmakers have a proper understanding of the technology and its implications so they can create appropriate laws. Did.
“If we work skillfully with legislators…there is a good chance that we can actually get a sensible level of regulation in the US, the UK, and maybe even South America.”
As Farage said in his younger days, the challenge remained education, explaining that he saw lawmakers vote on bills on subjects he was not well informed about.
“The knowledge level of the regulator [Bitcoin] Very low. Lawmakers need real education, but it’s not easy,” he said.
Perhaps it is the lack of proper understanding that has led many world leaders to consider CBDCs, and that is one of his main concerns, he said. “[They] It will take away our economic freedom. “
But don’t be discouraged, said Farage, referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s famous words.
“You know you’re winning when they start getting really nasty,” he said.
