Bette Midler claims she wasn’t going to be transphobia after facing a backlash over controversial tweets about women

Bette Midler revealed earlier this week what her controversial tweets about women mean.

The singer claimed that she was not going to be transphobia after posting that the woman was “deprived of our body, our lives, and even our rights to our name.”

She posted on July 4th.

Women in the world! We are deprived of our rights to our bodies, our lives and even our names! They no longer call us “women”. They call us “births” or “menstruators” and even “people with vagina”! Don’t let them erase you! All humans on earth owe you!

But now Midler says the tweet in question is a response to the article she read. The New York Times.

She shared:

It was almost the same old woman that every woman had put up with since the people in the cave. Still, the man received the highest bill. But seriously, if the person reading the tweet thinks they have something other than I love the marginalized people, go to Wikipedia and enter my name.

The word reflects the reality that cisgender women are not the only ones who have menstruation or need assisted reproductive technology. As our understanding progresses, updating and using the correct term does not deprive anyone of anything. 💙🏳️‍⚧️

As a fan of Transgender and Bette Midler, I was really disappointed with this.

Including trans-gender men in conversations about reproductive health does not harm women. We have the same organs as Sith women and are even more vulnerable.

Oh bet. Transgender people and those who love and support them have no problem with the term or concept of “female”.

To ensure that vulnerable people are often included and protected, we are right after the inclusive language when appropriate and needed.

Macy Gray was criticized this week for telling Piers Morgan that “just because I replaced parts” was “not a woman.”
