Barcelona offers to Bayern Munich for Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona, Spain (AP) —Barcelona has offered star striker Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich, the president of the Spanish club said Thursday.
“We have made an offer to the players and are waiting for a reply,” said Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona. “Thanks to the players who have shown an interest in our club.”
“My talk with Bayern Munich is over,” Lewandowski said in late May, saying that moving to a new club would be the best solution. The 33-year-old Polish striker has another season on contract with the Bundesliga giant.
Negotiations to extend the contract between Bayern and Lewandowski broke down this season, providing different reasons for both. The club said the player rejected the offer, but his agent said the offer had never been made by Bayern.
Barcelona is trying to reconstruct the attack a year after Lionel Messi left. Finishing without a title last season, Real Madrid was the distant second place champion in the Spanish league and couldn’t get out of the Champions League group phase.
Catalan clubs are in debt. Recently, it sold 10% of the Spanish League’s television rights in exchange for just over € 200 million ($ 203 million) over the next 25 years. Some of it will be used to sign new players.
This week we have introduced new signatures Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen to enhance midfield and defense respectively.
Lewandowski will greatly support the attack.
He has scored 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga games between Bayern and former club Borussia Dortmund. He scored 35 goals in 34 games last season, becoming the Bundesliga’s fifth consecutive season and seventh overall top scorer.
