Friendly service at Vernon restaurant this December

A local sports club is providing Christmas cheer for a pair of the community’s most vulnerable residents.

Roster Sports Club Bar and Grill will launch its third annual Dish Out the Kindness initiative, a month-long fundraiser, in December. This year, the roster will raise much-needed funding for The Salvation Army — House of Hope Food Bank and Turning Point Collaborative Society.

For every regular-priced entree you buy for eat-in or take-out throughout the month, Roster will donate $5 toward our $6,000 goal. Roster will also donate $5 from every gift certificate purchase over $50.

Proceeds will be split equally between two charities.

“The past few years have taken a toll on our community, and these two organizations need our help more than ever,” said Hussein Hollands, owner of The Roster. said. “The Salvation Army has done so much for our most vulnerable citizens, including running food banks, and we know the need in our communities has never been greater. is the housing crisis that has led to an increase in homelessness and the many associated challenges.”

Turning Points provides outreach, shelter services, and a variety of housing options for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Okanagan.

The Salvation Army has been serving the Vernon area for 115 years, providing food, clothing, Christmas support, emotional and spiritual care to families and individuals through food banks, family services and thrift stores.
