Austin Butler talks about his reaction to Lisa Marie Presley’s “Elvis” movie “Tears”

Austin Butler has received much praise for his role as Elvis Presley. Butler will play King of Rock and Roll in Baz Luhrmann’s biography, which will be released in June. Not only are critics praising the performance, but the 30-year-old actor is praised by Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla Presley and his daughter Lisa Marie Presley.

In an interview with New York TimesButler revealed that the positive reaction from Lisa Marie “brought me to tears.”

“Of course, I want everyone to love this movie, but the pressure I really felt was to give Elvis justice,” Butler said in an interview. Earlier this month, Lisa Marie went to Instagram to share her thoughts on the movie. A few months away from the platform, Elvis and Priscilla’s daughter wrote a moving post after showing the film twice personally.

In an Instagram post, Lisa Marie calls the movie “Spectacular and Absolutely Exquisite.”

“Austin Butler beautifully guided and embodied my father’s heart and soul,” she wrote next to the picture on the movie’s promotional poster. “In my humble opinion, his performance was unprecedented and was ultimately accurate and polite. (If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I eat my feet. Masu, haha.) Lisa Marie wrote that she shed tears when she saw the children’s reaction to the film. She also shared that the singer was heartbroken that her son, Benjamin Keef, wasn’t alive to watch the movie.

In a recent interview GQButler opened up how the amount of dedication and work he spent in the role of the late musician shut down his body after production.

“The day after I finished Elvis, my body just started shutting down,” Austin explained to GQ. “The next day, I woke up with intolerable pain at 4 am and was rushed to the hospital.” Regarding the diagnosis, the actor suffered from a virus that simulated appendicitis and eventually became bedridden.
