Arsenal sign long-term contract with Manchester City’s Gabriel Magalhizas

London — Arsenal signed a long-term contract with Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus on Monday.

Brazil International is on the move with a reported £ 45m ($ 54m) deal. He has scored 95 goals in 236 games in almost six seasons in the City, winning the Premier League four times, the League Cup three times and the FA Cup.

25-year-old Jesus reunites with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Mikel Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s assistant in the city before taking over the Gunners.

“I talked a few times about clubs, players, projects, and the future,” he told arsenal.com.

“I believe in Miquel 100%. I had a great time with him before. He is a very good person and a very good coach.

“He helped me a lot. After the training session, I was always together to finish things up.

“He was a very smart guy and a great player, so if he knows something, he can teach me and young players.

Arsenal needed reinforcements in advance after the departure of the expired Alexandre Lacazette, and Arteta knew who he wanted to join.

“I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to hire a player of this height,” he said.

“I personally know Gabriel very well. We all know him well from his time in the Premier League and from his real success here.

“I’m really happy because this has been a position on our radar for a long time and we managed to get the player we all wanted.”
