Nearby, volunteers collected canned goods and cash donations for local food banks. This is the reason for the existence of CP Holiday Trains.

First launched in 1999, the CP Holiday Train Program has two trains, one in Canada only and one in Canada and the United States.

The CP Holiday train last arrived in Windsor in 2019. The 2020 and 2021 edition trains have been canceled due to pandemic precautions. Instead, a virtual Holiday Train event was held.

The US Holiday Train, which stopped at Windsor, left Montreal on November 22nd. After leaving Windsor, they headed to Illinois and Iowa to transport country musicians Lindsay Elle and Jojo Mason to their next gig.

The final show for both trains will take place in Weyburn, Sask on December 18th. Another one is in the Vancouver area.

During CP Holiday Train’s 23-year history, the program has raised over $21 million in donations and an estimated 5 million pounds of food for food banks across North America.
