Ontario blizzard calls for up to 80 cm in some areas

Environment Canada has warned that a prolonged snow squall is expected in parts of Ontario this weekend, with up to 80 cm of snow possible in some areas.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said heavy snow and blizzards could reduce visibility to near zero, so non-essential travel should be considered postponed until conditions improve.

Several areas of southern Ontario, including Parry Sound-Muskoka, Niagara, and Kingston-Prince Edward County, are expected to continue with snow squalls through the weekend.

Local snowfall will range from 50 to 80 centimeters by late Sunday in the Blue Mountains, northern Gray County and southern Bruce County, the agency said.

The southern Niagara region is expected to see up to 60 centimeters of snow this weekend, with other areas such as Barry and Orillia seeing up to 25 centimeters by Saturday morning and another 25 centimeters by Saturday night. There is a possibility.

Environment Canada has also warned of possible squalls in parts of northern Ontario, including the North Bay and West Nipissing, which could see up to 20cm of snow this weekend.
