Jordan Sparks says AMAs ‘shouldn’t have been canceled’ Chris Brown performance: ‘It’s a matter of his talent’

Jordan Sparks is the latest star to show support for Chris Brown.

Brown’s absence from the 2022 AMAs to win Favorite Male R&B Artist sparked controversy over the weekend, with Kelly Rowland defending him onstage while accepting the award on his behalf.

TMZ We caught up with Sparks outside ABC Studios in New York on Tuesday to ask her about the controversy.

“You love asking me about Chris, but we love Chris,” said Sparks. “He should have been there.”

On social media, Brown claimed he was scheduled to perform a tribute to Michael Jackson with Ciara at the awards show, but the performance was called off.

Brown has been the subject of much backlash and criticism over the years for a number of incidents, including violent behavior and assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Asked if he should move away from the artist’s past, Sparks said, “Honestly, I don’t think it should be a conversation anymore. It’s about his talent. They shouldn’t have canceled the performance.” That’s how I feel about it.

She added: everyone deserves it. especially him. ”

After telling the booing audience at the AMAs to keep quiet and praising Brown as an “incredible performer,” Rowland said: TMZ about the incident.
