Saanich police are investigating the incident and one person has been taken to hospital
Saanich Police are investigating a possible DUI after the vehicle went off-road and hit a large tree at Block 4500 of Cedar Hill Road.
According to a news release, the incident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday (December 1) when officers found the vehicle lying in woodland at PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park).
The driver was the only person in the car and was treated by BCEHS paramedics before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were non-life-threatening.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision and is under investigation.
“The driver fortunately suffered only minor injuries, but this type of collision was completely preventable,” said Const. Marcus Anastassiades. “Impaired driving can have tragic consequences. This collision follows the commencement of enhanced road checks starting tomorrow.”
Saanich Police will also launch a Winter Counter Attack campaign this weekend.
