Abortion-right rally at the US Consulate in Toronto triggered by the overthrow of the Roe v. Wade case

Dozens of people gathered outside the US Consulate in downtown Toronto on Saturday to protest the US Supreme Court’s groundbreaking decision to overturn constitutional protection against the right to abortion.

Protesters carried a slogan called a placard to protest the decision to overturn the groundbreaking 1973 Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion.

This decision is expected to lead to an abortion ban in about half of the US states.

Talking to CP24 outside the consulate, the chairman of the Canadian Democratic Party said he was worried about what the move meant for women’s health and freedom.

She greeted the decision with anger and fear on Friday, but said she had taken action ever since.

“We are mobilizing, registering voters and finding Americans here,” said Erin Kotekki Best, saying that more than 500,000 Americans in Canada are eligible to vote in the United States. I pointed out.

She said the main purpose of the protest was to raise awareness about the decision.

“That’s all that changes, so we need to get more people to know what’s going on and let Americans here in Canada vote for it,” Kotekki Best said. “Canadian and American votes are the best.”

She said Canadians and Americans living here tend to feel isolated from the abortion debate south of the border, but people should not take their freedom for granted.

“One of the reasons we love living in Canada is that we don’t think we need to be afraid of what’s happening south of the border. But as you’ve seen, it’s starting to sneak up. “She said.
