When Ariel Kaplan was reported missing last summer, Toronto police said he was at risk of his safety.

On Tuesday, police in the Durham area confirmed that the body of a Toronto man was found in a hockey bag floating in a rural pond in Uxbridge.

Homeowners in the Concession Road 6 and All Bright Road areas. I found a bag at around 2:40 pm on May 10, and reported it to the police.

Autopsy confirmed that the body was Kaplan. The cause of his death has not been revealed.

Kaplan, 32, was known to the police. The Thornhill man was arrested in May 2021 after a tractor trailer full of items worth more than $ 243,000 was stolen on Steels Avenue E and Highway 410.

The truck contained a case of bottled juice, appliances, and motor oil, which was recovered in a Brampton warehouse.

Kaplan was charged with possession of stolen goods in excess of $ 5,000. He went missing three months later, before the case was resolved.

A large ground and water survey was conducted at Uxbridge by the Durham Regional Police Public Security Unit and the York Regional Police diving team.

Investigators want to talk to someone who has spoken to or seen Kaplan before Kaplan disappeared in August 2021.
