‘Yellowstone’: Everything We Know About Season 5

To Paige Gawley‍, ETOnline.com.

The long-awaited return of Yellowstone! The beloved series is gearing up for its fifth season premiere, and ET is gearing up by taking a look back at everything the Dutton family has been up to this point.

For those new to “Yellowstone,” the Paramount Network series stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch behind one of the largest consecutive ranches in the country. John has also faced threats of violence as he deals with drama from both his adult children and his ranch employees, working to stop land development in the state and oh yeah, Governor has become

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg, though, as the drama of “Yellowstone” extends far beyond John. Keep reading to see where season 4 left off, and learn what the actor teased ET about what’s to come in the coming weeks.

What Happened in Season 4?

Season 4 began in dramatic fashion as John was fighting for his life after being shot. John’s son Case Dutton (Luke Grimes), Case’s wife Monica (Kelsey Asbill), and John’s daughter Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) were also targeted. Adopted Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) was the troublemaker of the family. No It was part of an attempted hit that led to season-long questions about his loyalty to his family.

It turns out Jamie wasn’t behind the attempted murder, but his biological father, Garrett Randall (Will Patton), was. However, instead of killing Garrett, Jamie chooses to form a relationship with Garrett, first at the behest of a former employee and now the mother of his son Christina (Katherine Cunningham). The relationship lasted until Beth discovered everything and blackmailed Jamie into killing Garrett. So Jamie is at the mercy of both Beth and John from now on. Bad news for Jamie. He expected to be the next Governor of Montana, but it was John who got the job and the power that came with it.

All the while, a proposal to build an airport on Montana land causes problems for both John and Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham).

“I think they have a deep respect for each other because they have a deep connection to the land,” Birmingham told ET of John and Rainwater. “They want the same thing.” [for] The reason is different. ”

Beth tries to work with Market Equities to improve the situation on the land, but instead antagonizes CEO Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) by providing information to some protesters. It’s decided. The move angers John, as one of the protesters, Summer (Piper Perabo), has become an unlikely friend and is now facing prison.

Beth is out of work because she and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), bring home orphaned teenage Carter (Finn Little) for quasi-adoption. But I was busy.

“It’s kind of a slow crawl, and he’s certainly not giving Carter a break,” Hauser told ET of Lip’s moody relationship with the teen. [season] 4 It was a tough love.

When Rip taught Carter how to ranch, Rip was also dealing with a heated fight between two of his men, Lloyd (Foley J. Smith) and Walker (Ryan Bingham). Lloyd, Carter, and John were the only ones to attend Beth and Lip’s impromptu wedding at the end of the season, so even with the disciplinary action against his longtime companion Lloyd, the Things never got messed up.

Elsewhere, ranch hand Jimmy Hardstrom (Jefferson White) is sent to Texas to work after breaking a promise to John. While there, he met and fell in love with veterinarian Emily (Kathryn Kelly). By the end of the season, Jimmy gets permission from John to leave Yellowstone permanently and move to Texas permanently.

The season ended on an ominous note for Case and Monica discovering they weren’t expecting a baby. 2. At the end of many days of intense sacred rituals, Case confessed to Monica that he “saw the end of us” when he saw a vision of the future.

Grimes previously told ET, “The bottom line is you don’t know what that means.” “Is it about them breaking up? Was it about them dying? We don’t know what ‘our end’ meant.”

what about season 5?

The trailer revealed that the season will begin with John in office as Governor, Beth as Chief of Staff, and Jamie under his thumb.

“John is throwing a curveball this season, which will ruffle feathers and require re-evaluation and recalibration and a bit of obscurity,” Birmingham teased.

“The question is land. Who owns it? Who controls it? It’s not always the fairest outcome,” Costner told ET. “Dutton’s struggle has always held the ground.”

Given that, market equity will still be an issue as Caroline directs her team to “ruin” Dutton.

“Protecting the land, taking care of my father, protecting him,” Riley told ET of Beth’s season 5 priorities. She’s a married woman. It’s not happening…the intensity is legally increasing.”

There’s also a touching moment between Monica and Case, with Monica saying in the trailer, “When I say I give my all to this land, I mean everything.

When ET spoke with Asbille, she reacted to the fact that Monica has short hair in the trailer. In her native American culture, a haircut can mean drastic loss, so it can be a meaningful change.

“It’s true,” Asbir admitted of her character’s hair change. I think it means more than just being new. What they experience changes them. [in a] I think it’s a huge way to let them know where they are in the family and what’s next for Dutton Ranch. ”

As for Beth and Rip, Hauser told ET that their newlywed life is “never blissful.”

“It’s an interesting season. [‘Yellowstone’ creator] taylor [Sheridan] You wrote something really great. It’s really heartfelt,’ he teased.

“I think Beth’s values are pretty outdated,” Riley added. “I think the fact that this man has become her husband has a lot of power in her…it’s something she’s incredibly proud of and maybe gives her a little more stability.” I think I will give you a

After all, Grimes told ET that the series is “just getting better and better,” and Bentley said season 5 is “burning. This. Down.”

Who are the new characters in season 5?

Kai Castor, Lainee Wilson, Lily Kay and Dawn Olivieri join the cast of the series. Castor plays Rowdy, a young cowboy. His real-life country singer Wilson plays a musician named Abby. Kay appears as Clara Brewer, Dutton’s new assistant. Olivieri plays a company shark named Sarah Atwood.

“I’m so excited to see it. ‘Yellowstone’ is one of the best shows in my opinion and I’m so excited to be a part of this season,” Wilson told ET. “You see me throughout the season. Playing musician Abby. I’m almost going to be myself! I get to wear what I wear, sing my songs and be myself.” became.”

Will the show end with season 5?

It’s currently unclear whether the 14-episode, two-part season 5 will be the last of ‘Yellowstone’, and many in the cast seem to be divided.

“I think we’re nearing the end,” Asbir told ET. “We have a story to tell and we don’t want it to drag on. I think.”

“I don’t think anything will end anytime soon. I don’t think so,” Bentley objected. “…Taking the time to understand the story and making sure you tell it in the best possible way is important.

When asked, Grimes responded neutrally. “I know that [Sheridan] You don’t pass by where you should go,” he said. “Sometimes shows get to this level, but they can go on and on and on. But he doesn’t let our show do that. So we’ll see. We’ll see where it goes.”

As for Costner, we don’t know when the series will end, but we do have an opinion on when it should end.

“We’re going to go until we don’t feel like it’s fun anymore. For now, we’re on the gas and we feel fine with that,” he told ET. “…”Yellowstone ‘, it had not been created. I liked that story. We thought we could do this, so the idea that it’s good doesn’t surprise me at all. ”
