1 killed, 1 injured in police-involved shooting in Markham

One man died and another was taken to hospital after being shot by Yorkshire Police officers investigating Markham’s home break-in.

The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. Friday when plainclothes officers were in a residential neighborhood near Eyer Drive and Rodick Rd.

An “interaction” occurred between the officer and the vehicle. One man died at the scene and the second is in stable condition.

Two 26-year-old men and a woman were arrested and detained.

Ontario police guard dogs are called in to investigate when police actions may have led to death, serious injury, sexual assault, or firearm firing.
